Part of a new breed of young, global performers, Indo-Canadian comedian Sugar Sammy Sammy is all set to make the city laugh. Samir Khullar better known as Sugar Sammy has performed over a thousand shows in thirty countries in English, Hindi, Punjabi and French will be performing in Mumbai as a part of the live entertainment series in India by Comedy Central. Hailing from Montreal and being of Punjabi descent, Sugar Sammy has seen and heard a lot, though this will be the second time he will be performing in the city.

What he sees and hears serves as the basis for his comedy, he says. Thank God for arranged marriages and multicultural issues to make us laugh, but Sugar Sammy has no off -limit topics for his audience. “I draw inspiration from Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock and Sasha Baren Cohen among others. I love their style, their humour does not censor anything. I usually talk about my travels, sports, my relationship with women and thats what I plan to do on my tour in India.

I will be travelling to Bengaluru and Delhi as well and I am looking forward to entertain everyone here,” adds the comedian. When asked about his transition from Samir Khullar to Sugar Sammy, he smiles and says, “When I was a student in university, I used to throw parties and invite the girls. They could enter free, while I would get the guys to pay an entry charge. That's where the girls found me to be very sweet and they started calling me Sugar Sammy.” The cross-cultural comedian who speaks and entertains in four languages will be performing in English and Hindi in the city on Sunday.
